Women’s Semi-Finals: A New Champion Awaits

For the first time in over a decade, the Venus Rosewater Dish will be lifted by a brand-new name — and whoever emerges from the final four will be doing so with history in the making.

Amanda Anisimova vs Aryna Sabalenka

In one of the most compelling stories of the fortnight, Amanda Anisimova has announced her return to the elite. The 13th seed came into Wimbledon playing her first main draw at the All England Club since 2022. Now, she’s a win away from her maiden Grand Slam final and assured of a top-8 ranking come Monday.

Standing in her way is the formidable world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian has reached her fourth consecutive Grand Slam semi-final, and while she dropped her first set of the tournament in a gritty quarter-final against Laura Siegemund, her aggressive baseline game and relentless power remain as intimidating as ever. A Wimbledon final has so far eluded Sabalenka — will 2025 be her year?

Iga Swiatek vs Belinda Bencic

The other semi-final features two Olympic medallists who have quietly carved strong runs into the second week. Iga Swiatek, a four-time major champion and Olympic bronze medallist, has grown in confidence on the grass — the surface long considered her weakest. After a title in Bad Homburg and commanding wins at Wimbledon, Swiatek looks ready to shatter expectations.

But Belinda Bencic, the 2021 Tokyo Olympic gold medallist, has rediscovered the form that once made her a teenage prodigy. In her first major semi-final since the 2019 US Open, Bencic held her nerve through two tense tiebreaks to oust rising star Mirra Andreeva. Her balanced all-court game and big-match experience could be key.

Men’s Semi-Finals: Titans and Breakthroughs Collide

In contrast to the unpredictable women’s draw, the men’s semi-finals boast four of the world’s top six players — a heavyweight quartet ready to fight for a place in Sunday’s final.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz

Carlos Alcaraz continues to rewrite tennis history. The 22-year-old Olympic silver medallist is on a 23-match winning streak, has won his last 17 matches on grass, and remains unbeaten in Grand Slam finals (5–0). The defending Wimbledon champion has shown poise, power, and polish on every step of his title defense.

His opponent, Taylor Fritz, is no stranger to grass-court success. Nicknamed “Taylawn,” the world No. 5 has claimed half of his career titles on this surface. Now a two-time Slam semi-finalist, Fritz will be looking to reach his first Wimbledon final by taking down a seemingly unstoppable force.

Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic

When world No. 1 Jannik Sinner underwent an MRI on his shoulder before the quarter-finals, alarm bells rang. But any doubt quickly evaporated as the Italian cruised through in straight sets, setting up a blockbuster 10th clash with Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian icon, a seven-time Wimbledon champion and Olympic gold medallist, has only lost once at SW19 since 2017. Though Sinner leads their overall head-to-head, Djokovic has won both of their previous Wimbledon meetings — and with a shot at an eighth crown, he’s as motivated as ever.
