Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025: Iran Post Third Straight Win, Rout Zanzibar

Kabaddi powerhouse Iran posted their third successive win in IKF Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 beating Zanzibar 51-15. It was a Group B match held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the capital today (Wednesday).

The Iranian side put pressure on Zanzibar from the beginning of the match. They achieved the first all-out against their opponent in the 11th minute. Iran earned 20 points while Zanzibar had only one. By the end of the first half, Iran took a commanding 28-3 lead.

Zanzibar was all-out again at the beginning of the second half. At that time, the match score line was 35-8. The African nation was all-out three times in the match. The third all-out came just three minutes before the final whistle.

Iran was leading 45-13 and eventually took the match with a 51-15 score.

After the match, Iran captain Asma Fakhri said: “We are very happy to achieve our third consecutive win. We’re delighted to be able to come to Bangladesh to play this World Cup. Our team is formed by a mix of experienced and young players; our coach has formed the team that way.”

It was Iran’s third win in a row as they defeated Poland 55-11 and Kenya 42-10 in their previous matches.

Iran will play Chinese Taipei in a decider on Thursday.

Team Iran are drawn in Group B along with Chinese Taipei, Nepal, Poland, Zanzibar and Kenya in the second edition of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup.

Group A consists of defending champion India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Uganda and Germany.

The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 is taking place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from November 17 to 24.
