The qualification standards for the Indian Open 2025 World Athletics Continental Tour has been announced by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
This will be the first Indian Open and will take place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, starting August 10.
Qualification of entry standards is the minimum marks athletes need to achieve within a fixed qualification window in order to be eligible to compete in a particular meet.
Organised annually by World Athletics, the Continental Tour is an annual series of track and field competitions. It is the second tier of global meetings after the elite Diamond League.
Established in 2020, the Continental Tour has four levels – gold, silver, bronze and challenger. The Indian Open is a bronze-level meet.
The NC Classic was the first-ever Gold Level or Category A event held in India under the banner of World Athletics.
Several top athletes from around the world are expected to take part in the Indian Open.
Athletes from Turkmenistan, Bhutan, Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, Iraq, Vietnam, the Republic of Cameroon, Sri Lanka, Iran and the Maldives will participate in the competition at the Kalinga Stadium.
Over 150 athletes from more than 10 countries are set to compete across 20 medal events at the inaugural edition of the athletics meet.
The men’s events includes the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 5000m, long jump, triple jump, javelin throw and the 4x400m relay.
The women’s events will feature the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 100m hurdles, long jump, javelin throw and the 4x400m relay.
A mixed 4x400m relay will also be contested.
