The International Cricket Council (ICC) has disclosed the schedule for the warm-up matches leading up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in India. With the ODI World Cup 2023 commencing on October 5 and concluding on November 19, teams are gearing up for intense preparation.
The cricket extravaganza will begin on October 5 with a clash between the finalists of the previous World Cup – New Zealand and England – at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The grand finale of the tournament is also set to take place on November 19 at the same venue. The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan encounter will ignite excitement on October 14th at the Ahmedabad stadium.
Ahead of the main tournament, warm-up matches have been arranged across three Indian cities – Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad – from September 29 to October 3. Each of the ten participating teams will partake in two warm-up fixtures during this four-day period.
The matches are scheduled to commence at 2:00 pm IST. During these practice games, all teams will be allowed to field their complete squads of 15 members to optimize their preparation for the main competition. However, it is noteworthy that these warm-up matches will be 50-overs-a-side and will not carry official ODI status.
