Erin Jackson

Despite struggling with health issues since her Olympic triumph at Beijing 2022, Jackson is ready to finish atop the podium all as she eyes 500m gold in Hamar.

The 32-year-old has had a mixed World Cup season. She just edged Dutch short track star Suzanne Schulting in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland, before losing to Kok in the 500m at the following World Cup event in Heerenveen.

“It was definitely an interesting season. Probably the most interesting one for me, with ups and downs and things like that,” Jackson told ISU after clinching the 500m World Cup victory.

Jutta Leerdam

Another athlete to watch out for is Jutta Leerdam. The Beijing 2022 silver medallist over 1000m is confident after winning the 1000m at her home World Cup at Heerenveen’s Thialf ice arena, upsetting the dominant Takagi.

“I entered the bend much too early, which meant I had to squeeze a lot in the middle,” Leerdam told stated after her victory. “There is a lot of potential, I will show that at the World Championships. It is a matter of skating good bends, making more speed.”
