World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama 2025: French athletes ready to shine
France’s Cassandre Beaugrand arrives in Yokohama as the reigning Olympic and world champion. She comes on the back of having achieved the rare feat of winning individual gold in both competitions in the same year in 2024. She joins the elite list of four people to hit the milestone- the others being Alex Yee, Flora Duffy, and Kristian Blummenfelt.
Beaugrand appears to be in superb form, having collected wins in the Indoor Triathlon World Cup in Lievin and Supertri E World Triathlon Championships in March and April, respectively.
Another athlete to bear the French flag in Japan in women’s race would be defending Yokohama champion Léonie Périault.
In the men’s competition, French duo Dorian Coninx and Leo Bergere will be looking to reclaim their crowns. Both athletes won back-to-back World Championships.
Both of them will be aiming to go all guns blazing having missed out on the Abu Dhabi opener. They will be bidding to collect as many points as they start down the list.
While Bergere battled both injury and illness, he showed no signs of discomfort en route to winning a commendable silver on T100 debut in the heat of Singapore last month.
Coninx, on the other hand will look for redemption as it was in this venue that his Olympic dreams were shattered along with his wrist in that last-lap bike crash during Tokyo 2020.
