WPL History: Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been proven to be a great change for women’s cricket in India. Based on the pattern of the Indian Premier League (IPL), it has not only provided international exposure to women cricketers but has also achieved numerous historical milestones in a relatively short duration.

With the fourth edition of WPL kicking off from January 9 at D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, let’s have a detailed insight into the history of WPL, its legendary records, and winners.

When was WPL Star?

The Women’s Premier League officially began in 2023. The tournament was initiated by the BCCI to develop women’s cricket in India and provide players with a prominent platform, similar to the IPL.
