Wuhan Open serves as the final WTA 1000 event before the year-end Finals. It’s the last chance for players to capture a marquee title, add valuable ranking points and prize money and make a push for the remaining spots in Riyadh.
The 2025 Wuhan Open is being played on outdoor hard courts between October 6–12, 2025. It is the eighth edition of the Wuhan Open, and part of the WTA 1000 tournaments of the 2025 WTA Tour.
The tournament is being staged at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center in Wuhan, China.
In Wuhan, world number one Aryna Sabalenka will be the first seed and will also be playing a tournament for the first time since clinching her fourth Grand Slam singles title at the US Open by beating Amanda Anisimova. The World No.1 skipped the China Open because of an injury.
Sabalenka is the defending champion having won the tournament three times (2018, 2019, 2024) — the only three times she’s played it — and boasts a perfect 17-0 record all-time at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre.
