Best And Worst: WWE SmackDown Night Of Champions Recap
The latest episode of WWE SmackDown brought a mix of intense action, surprise returns, and storylines heading into Night of Champions. From rising stars to championship drama, here’s a simple and clear breakdown of the best (and worst) moments of the night.
SmackDown kicked off with a heated face-off between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Both superstars claimed they had more reason to win the upcoming title match because of their unfinished business with John Cena. This promo built strong hype and showed how personal their rivalry has become.
JC Mateo scored another win over Jimmy Uso, making a big statement. After the match, Solo Sikoa tried to recruit Jimmy once more, but Jimmy refused. When Solo attacked him, Jacob Fatu appeared and saved Jimmy. This moment added drama and hinted at new alliances and future storylines.
Jade Cargill and Asuka were being interviewed ahead of their Queen of the Ring final when Naomi interrupted. Tensions rose quickly. Cargill pushed Asuka aside to fight Naomi, but Asuka stood tall in the end. This segment teased a possible triple threat in the future.
R-Truth interrupted Aleister Black twice. That was a mistake. Black responded with a strong Black Mass kick, making it clear he isn’t someone to mess with. It was a quick but powerful moment that built Black’s mysterious and dangerous character.
Nia Jax had multiple title shots against Tiffany Stratton, but none ended in her favor. Their Last Woman Standing match might have closed the chapter for now.
Stratton survived two Banzai Drops and a brutal table spot, showing her toughness. Naomi tried to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase but couldn’t. With this feud done, Stratton can now move on to fresh challengers.
SmackDown’s tag division got a fresh twist. Andrade teamed up with surprise partner Rey Fenix to take on DIY. The match was fast-paced and exciting. DIY nearly won, but Andrade and Fenix used an impressive double-team finisher to seal the victory. This new team could make big waves in the tag scene.
The Wyatt Sicks were set to battle the Street Profits for the tag titles. But once again, chaos ruined the match. Other teams surrounded the ring, and Los Garza interfered, causing the match to end early.
Though the post-match brawl looked fun with superkicks and dives, it made the actual title match feel unimportant. This has become a problem in the tag division, with too many matches ending without a clear winner.
Zelina Vega lost the Women’s U.S. Title to newcomer Giulia. The match had good moments, and Giulia looked like a future star. While Vega gave it her all, her title run never truly connected with the crowd.
Giulia, with her unique presence, could bring fresh energy to the division. This match was solid, but it also showed how Vega’s reign needed something extra to stand out.
CM Punk and John Cena’s rivalry reached a new level when Punk mocked Cena’s old “Doctor of Thuganomics” style. Punk rapped about Cena’s past, his acting, and even took jabs at legends like Hulk Hogan. Cena looked uncomfortable, which made the segment even better.
This was one of the best promos in recent weeks. It was creative, funny, and personal, something fans won’t forget before Night of Champions.
