Gavi’s innate understanding of the game, combined with his early training at the Real Betis academy, prepared him for his rapid ascent in football. At the age of 16 years and 200 days, he made his debut for Barcelona B against fully grown adults on February 21, 2021. Later that year, at just 17 years and 25 days old, he earned his first-team debut under Ronald Koeman, impressing everyone with his maturity and skill.

Gavi’s versatility allows him to play various midfield roles and even as a left winger. He consistently contributes whether he starts or comes off the bench. Despite his small stature, he navigates past defenders with ease and seeks decisive passes.

His remarkable journey extends to the Spanish national team, where he made history on October 6, 2021, as the youngest-ever player to start for Spain’s senior side in a UEFA Nations League semifinal against Italy. Gavi has already accumulated 23 caps and scored four goals for La Roja.

Despite his rapid rise to stardom, Gavi remains grounded and acknowledges his origins, particularly his time at Real Betis’ academy. In a recent interview with MARCA, he emphasized staying true to himself and recognizing the support of those close to him.

As Gavi takes the pitch against Real Betis on Saturday, it will undoubtedly be a nostalgic moment, with memories of his journey flooding back for the young superstar.
