Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has finally opened up about the cheating allegations made by his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma, calling them false and draining. Chahal said that a relationship of that length wouldn’t have lasted if he had cheated early on and added that he has already moved forward with his life.
On the OTT show Rise and Fall, Dhanashree claimed that Chahal had cheated on her just two months after their wedding. During a conversation with fellow contestant Kubbra Sait, the choreographer shared when she realized her marriage was falling apart, a revelation that quickly grabbed attention on social media.
Yuzvendra Chahal Denies Dhanashree Verma’s Accusations
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Yuzvendra Chahal firmly denied the cheating claims made by his ex-wife. He stressed that such a relationship couldn’t have lasted long if there had been infidelity, calling the matter closed and done.
“I am a sportsperson, and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mei hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? (If someone had cheated within the very first two months, would the relationship have survived this long?) For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life, and everyone else should too,” he said.
Chahal and Dhanashree met during the COVID-19 lockdown when the cricketer joined her online dance classes. Their friendship quickly turned into a relationship, and the two got married on December 22, 2020. However, their marriage officially ended when the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai granted them a divorce on March 20, 2025.
Yuzvendra Chahal Says He Has Moved On from the Past
Reflecting on his marriage, Chahal mentioned that it lasted for 4.5 years and once again dismissed the idea of having cheated early on. He said he has moved on from the past, even though some people continue to bring it up.
“Hamari shadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mei cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Mai pehle bhi bol chuka hun ki mai past se nikal chuka hun. (Our marriage lasted 4.5 years. If I had cheated in two months, who would continue? I have told it before as well that I have moved on from the past.) But some people are still stuck there,” he added.
He also addressed those who keep his name in discussions for attention. “Abhi bhi kai log uss cheez ko pakde hue hain, abhi bhi unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai toh they can continue doing that. (People are still holding on to these things, if people’s houses are running by taking my name, they can continue doing that.) I am not concerned or affected. And I have a feeling this is the last time I am addressing that chapter of my life.”
