The Zagreb Open wrestling tournamen in underway in the Croatian capital. This is the first event of the UWW Ranking Series for the 2026 season. It features top-tier Olympic and World athletes in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
Reigning World Champions Zahid Valencia (86kg) and Trent Hidlay (92kg) are headlining a strong 23-man freestyle squad for team USA. Olympic medalist Spencer Lee is also a major draw in the 57kg category.
Traditionally dominant in Zagreb, Iran has sent a competitive squad including top contenders like Reza Momenijoujadeh (61kg) and Ebrahim Elahichouran (70kg).
India has a massive 41-member contingent headlined by Olympic medalist Aman Sehrawat who has moved up to 61kg for this event, and Antim Panghal will lead the women’s challenge in the 53kg category later this week.
