Zeeshan Ansari: The SRH Bowler You Need To Know
Zeeshan Ansari has been included in the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) playing XI for their match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025 Match 10 on Sunday, March 30.
The Hyderabad-based franchise secured Ansari’s services for ₹40 lakh in the IPL 2025 auction. The 25-year-old has now made his IPL debut, replacing Adam Zampa, despite the presence of experienced spinner Rahul Chahar in the squad.
Zeeshan Ansari’s journey to professional cricket has been inspiring. According to reports, his father runs a tailor shop called New Noor Mohammad Ladies Tailor in Lucknow.
During his early years, Zeeshan couldn’t even afford shoes and cricket gear. His coach and academy friends supported him by helping him buy essential equipment. Despite financial hardships and pressure from his father to work in the shop, Zeeshan remained determined and earned a place in the Uttar Pradesh U19 team.
Zeeshan’s talent earned him a spot in India’s squad for the 2016 U19 world Cup. His strong performance inside the Tri-nation series against Afghanistan and Bangladesh helped him cozy a place in the tournament.
In that series, he took 8 wickets at an excellent average of 8.62, playing a key role in India’s victory. In the U19 world Cup, he played along with Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed. He featured in two matches, selecting two wickets and scoring 37 runs.
sadly, India finished as runners-up, losing to the West Indies in the final.
Zeeshan’s consistent performances in kids cricket earned him a Ranji Trophy debut for Uttar Pradesh in opposition to Railways in October 2017. He made a right away impact, taking six wickets in his first match.
Despite his promising start, he performed only five matches till 2020, claiming 17 wickets. His only T20 appearance for Uttar Pradesh got here in 2019 in opposition to Uttarakhand.
Zeeshan made headlines in 2024 by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. Playing for Meerut Mavericks, he picked up 24 wickets in 12 matches, with an incredible average of 13.25.
His best bowling performance came against Kanpur Superstars, where he registered match-winning figures of 5/26. His contributions helped Meerut Mavericks secure a comfortable six-wicket victory.
