The final stages of the 2021 French Open have begun, and one of the Men’s Doubles Quarter-finals was played between India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty and Malaysia’s Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik on Friday, 29 October 2021.

This French Open Tournament is a Super 750 Level played from 26th to 31st October 2021 at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris, France.

Journey to the 2021 French Open Quarter-finals

The Indian pair had won both of their First Round & Second Round matches as it has gone into the decider against Chinese Taipei’s Lee Jhe-huei/ Yang Po-hsuan and compatriots Arjun M.R./ Dhruv Kapila respectively.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian pair had won both First Round & Second Round matches in two straight games as they defeated compatriots Goh V Shem/ Low Juan Shen and Thailand’s Supak Jomkoh/ Kittinupong Kedren respectively.

2021 French Open QF: Satwiksairaj/Chirag out of the tournament as they lost to Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik

This Men’s Doubles QF encounter was played on Court 2. The India pair is Ranked 11th in the world whereas their Malaysian opponents are the World No. 8.

The Head-to-Head Record, favoured Malaysia’s Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik as they lead by 2-0. The last encounter between the two pairs was in the 2021 Toyota Thailand Open where the Malaysian won in two straight games.

Meanwhile, at the 2021 French Open, Satwiksairaj/Chirag are 5th seeded whereas the 4th seeds are Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik from Malaysia.

At the QF encounter, the 1st Game was won by the Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty by 21-18.

In the 2nd Game, the Malaysian pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik made a great comeback to win 21-18.

The 3rd game, however, was a neck-to-neck encounter as they were 16-16 tied. But Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik won the game 21-17 & clinched the match.

As a result, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik won against Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty by 18-21, 21-18, 21-17 in about 1hour 01 minutes.
