For two teams, Portland Thorns and Bay FC, it went down to the last matchday of the regular season, both teams secured their place in the play-offs with 3-0 and 3-1 victories, respectively.

NWSL Shield winners Orlando Pride will host eight-placed Chicago Red Stars in the first quarter-final of the next stage on 8 November, .
A week later, the semi-finals will take place and the Championship will culminate on Saturday, 23 November with the final.
2024 NWSL: Top favourites to win the title
Orlando Pride
Orlando Pride are the undisputed favourites to go on and win the NWSL Championship this season. Although they missed out on a spot in the play-offs last season based on goal difference, they became Shield winners and finished top of the table. Their incredible transformation makes them hot favourites. Barbra Banda, Kylie Strom and Emily Sams make the team strong.
Kansas City Current
Kansas City Current has the NWSL’s top scorer in their forward line. Temwa Chawinga set a record for the most goals scored in a single season (20), and an additional six assists across 25 appearances. They finished fourth in the table with the second-lowest number of defeats (3), just one behind the Orlando Pride. This becomes crucial where each win counts in the knockout stage.

Bay FC
Bay FC had a successful first NWSL campaign. They pumped in a lot of money in the summer, and even broke the women’s football transfer record to sign Racheal Kundananji. The Zambian justified by scoring twice in their must-win game against the Houston Dash, securing a play-off spot with a tense 3-2 win.
