The 5 Players Mumbai Indians Could Release Before IPL 2027 Auction has become a major discussion among fans and cricket experts after the franchise’s inconsistent performances in the last two IPL seasons. The Mumbai Indians have always been known for building strong squads and investing in young talents who can contribute consistently in pressure situations. However, several senior and overseas players have failed to perform according to the expectations of the franchise in IPL 2026.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya has been a crucial figure for the Mumbai Indians for a decade and has been contributing crucial runs and wickets for the team. But in the recent few seasons, his performance has been questionable for the franchise and fans, as in the IPL 2024 season, he scored only 216 runs with an average of 18. In IPL 2025, he scored 224 runs with an average of 24, and

In IPL 2026, he has scored 172 runs in 9 innings. Looking ahead to the IPL 2027 Auction, Hardik Pandya can be released due to his inconsistent performances. He has also faced a lot of criticism from fans and management.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been an important player for the Mumbai Indians for a long time, scoring valuable runs and contributing well in captaincy. However, according to his recent performances in IPL 2026, things have become concerning regarding his long-term association with the Mumbai Indians, as in the 2026 season,

he has made only 210 runs with an average of 17.50 so far. Mumbai Indians have always been seen investing in young new players, and the IPL 2027 Auction can be a turning point for Suryakumar, as the franchise may look for other options rather than carrying Surya for the upcoming seasons.

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar’s performance in IPL 2026 has been a concern for his long-term plans with the Mumbai Indians, as he has not performed the way the franchise was hoping for him. He has taken 6 wickets in 7 innings with an economy of nearly 11 and a best figure of 2/33.

Looking ahead to the IPL 2027 Auction, the Mumbai Indians can look for other options as well and may release Deepak Chahar from the team to build a better bowling line-up that can match up well with Jasprit Bumrah.

Sherfane Rutherford

Sherfane Rutherford came into the Mumbai Indians setup in the IPL 2026 season for INR 1.5 Crore at the auction. MI was looking for someone who could produce runs at No. 8 batting in the lower order of the playing XI. In the IPL 2026 season, Rutherford scored 123 runs in 8 matches with an average of 24 and a strike rate of 164.

This raises serious concern for him, as the franchise was looking for someone who could consistently produce sixes and fours, but Sherfane was seen as inconsistent in doing so. Looking ahead to the IPL 2027 Auction, the Mumbai Indians can look for someone who can consistently score runs batting at No. 8.

Will Jacks

Will Jacks joined the Mumbai Indians with expectations of providing balance as a batting all-rounder, but his performances in the last two seasons have remained inconsistent. In IPL 2025, Will Jacks scored 233 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 135.47 and also picked up 6 wickets.

However, in IPL 2026, he managed only 106 runs in 6 matches despite maintaining a strike rate of 182.76, while also taking just 1 wicket with the ball. IPL 2027 Auction can become a crucial phase for Will Jacks, as the Mumbai Indians may look for more consistent all-round options who can contribute regularly with both bat and ball.
