The much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction is scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 574 players from various cricketing nations have been shortlisted to participate in the auction. Initially, 1,574 players were considered, but the list was trimmed down after franchise reviews.
Player Breakdown for the Auction
Out of the shortlisted players, 366 are Indian, while 208 are overseas players, including three from Associate Nations. The list also includes 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players. Among the capped players, 48 are Indian, and 193 are from overseas.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Slots and Price Brackets
Following the announcement of team retentions on October 31, 204 slots are available for the auction, 70 of which are for overseas players. Players are divided into eight price brackets, ranging from₹30 lakh to₹2 crore.

Of the 48 capped Indian players, 23 have chosen the highest base price of ₹2 crore. Notable names include Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Venkatesh Iyer, and Ishan Kishan.
Interestingly, Shreyas, Pant, and Rahul, who captained their franchises in IPL 2024, were released despite their key roles. Shreyas even led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory in IPL 2024 but was not retained. Pant and Rahul, captains of the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), also didn’t secure playoff spots for their teams.
Other players, such as Nitish Rana and Ajinkya Rahane, have set their base prices at ₹1.5 crore, while Jitesh Sharma, Rahul Chahar, and Mayank Agarwal have listed ₹1 crore as their reserve price.
Team Purses for the Auction
All 10 franchises have a budget of ₹120 crore each for the auction. Punjab Kings (PBKS) have the largest purse, ₹110.5 crore, as they retained only two players.
