4 Nations Face-Off is a new international ice hockey tournament that was inaugurated this year. The tournament marked the return of NHL players to international competitions 9 years after their last appearance in the World Cup of Hockey 2016.
The tournament featured four teams, namely Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Russia was also supposed to be a part of the competition, though they could not participate because of the ongoing war.
The tournament started on 12 February and the finals are set to take place on 20 February. After Sweden was knocked out of the competition in the round-robin stage, the US defeated Canada to advance to the finals meanwhile Canada beat Finland to secure its spot in the finals.
The final match will be played on Thursday at 8 pm ET and will be available for live streaming on ESPN in the U.S. and Sportsnet in Canada. The game will be held at the TD Garden in Boston.

Team US has displayed a strong performance since the beginning of the competition, they defeated Finland by 6-1 and also became the first team to secure a spot in the finals. They beat Canada in the semi-finals and feature some notable players like Connor Hellebuyck, however, Team Canada isn’t behind either. They began their campaign by winning a match against Sweden by 3-1 and are the most successful team in the international ice hockey tournaments.
They have won six out of eight events since the original Canada Cup which was later replaced by the World Cup of Hockey and also bagged two titles of the same. Canada is the defending champion of the title having won the last edition in 2016.
US center Jack Eichel shared his enthusiasm and said, It’s for everything. You’re going to see desperate hockey. You’re going to see everything you saw in the first game and more, I imagine. It’ll be great.”

Rogers posted ads all over Montreal featuring Connor McDavid with the message, “NOTRE ÉQUIPE. NOTRE SPORT.” translating to “OUR TEAM. OUR GAME.”
It will be exciting to see the defending champions and the legendary team who’s back after 9 years to compete for the first-ever 4 Nations Face-Off trophy.
