The World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 2025 is set to be the first major global competition in track and field since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Over 500 athletes will take part in the championships representing at least 120 countries from March 21-23. Events will be held for 26 gold medals at the Nanjing Sports Training Centre in the People’s Republic of China.
Six champions from Paris Olympics 2024 – Armand Duplantis, Grant Holloway, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Miltiadis Tentoglou, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, and Hamish Kerr – are among the stars set to feature at World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025 in Nanjing.
Defending champions Devynne Charlton, Molly Caudery, and Hugues Fabrice Zango will also be looking to retain their crown.
Stars to watch at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 2025
Olympic champion Armand Duplantis’ will be taking part in his fourth competition this season. The Swede will be aiming to go past the bar at 6.28m, which could mark his 12 consecutive world record after surpassing the 6.27m mark in France last February.
Another world record holder confirmed for the Championships is Ukraine high jump queen Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who’s just bagged her third consecutive European women’s title.
In the longer distances, Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigsten is the athlete to watch out for as he will be attempting another 1500m & 3000m win after his historic fourth consecutive European double.
China’s hope for a medal lies with shot putter Lijiao Gong, a 10-time world medallist across the indoor and outdoor championships.
