The longest one-day race on the UCI World Tour calendar- the one-day monument in Milano–Sanremo- will be staged on Saturday (22 March). This will be the first men’s road cycling of the season.
Also, for the first time in 20 years, a major race for women ending in Sanremo will also be held. Known as the Sanremo Women race, the event will debut on the same day as the men. The men’s race will begin in Pavia and the women’s competition will start in Genoa. Both will finish in Sanremo.

The men’s race will be spread 289km (just under 180 miles). It starts in Pavia, southeast of Milan, and at first heads north towards Milan before reaching Certosa, where it turns back to the south to follow the traditional route along the SS1 Via Aurelia highway and taking in the long, gently-sloping Passo del Turchino climb.
The Sanremo women’ s race has a course of 156km (97 miles), beginning in Genoa along the Ligurian coast, joining the men’s course at Voltri from where both races will take the coastal highway towards Sanremo.
Both races will feature triple climbs of Capi Mele, Capi Cervo and Capi Berta, as well as the one-two finishing punch of the Cipressa and Poggio di Sanremo.
