Miami Open 2025 is underway as it started on 16 March, and the finals are set to take place on 30 March 2025. In the absence of the defending champion, Jannik Sinnner, who is currently serving a doping ban, the former champion Novak Djokovic has taken the opportunity to shine once again. He recently secured his place in the quarterfinals after defeating Lorenzo Musetti in the third round. The tournament featured a draw of 96 players, including 32 seeds, where Novak was seeded fourth.

This milestone has made a significant impact on his career, as he returned to the tournament after a hiatus since 2019. He secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a perfect score of 6-2, 6-2 in his previous match, and this game showcased his dominance in the sport. With this victory, he also achieved a historic feat as it became his 411th match win at the ATP Masters 1000 events, setting a record for the most wins in that particular category, surpassing the previous record held by Rafael Nadal

He is set to face Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinals, This match will specifically be special and easier for Novak because Korda is visibly struggling with a wrist injury. He also spoke about his discomfort and said, “It’s pretty painful right now, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow. Will do a lot of work with my physio now, we’ll see how it is tomorrow. I haven’t played a lot of tournaments this year. Hopefully I can play some good tennis and see where it takes me.”

This could mean an easy win for Novak Djokovic as he has had a remarkable career at the Miami Open, establishing himself as one of the most successful players in the tournament. He has won the tournament six times, tying with Andre Agassi for the most titles in the tournament’s history. If he manages to pull off a win this year, he will set another record for having the most titles at the Miami Open.

He also holds the title for having three consecutive wins in the tournament from 2014 to 2016. Overall, we might get to see the much-awaited comeback of Novak Djokovic, as he struggled to claim a single title in the 2025 season despite qualifying for the finals multiple times.
