IPL 2025: Aniket Verma put on a show against Axar Patel in Match 10 of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, March 30. He reached his maiden IPL fifty in style by hitting Axar for two consecutive sixes after an elegant boundary.

Aniket Verma Shines Against Axar Patel

On the third ball of the 15th over, Aniket Verma smashed a huge 102-metre six over deep mid-wicket. Axar then bowled a fuller delivery, but the right-hander stepped back and launched it over long-off. Before this, he had already hit two sixes, but his final shot straight over the bowler’s head was the highlight of his explosive innings.

Who Is Aniket Verma:

Aniket was born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, but he played most of his cricket in Madhya Pradesh. He was the top scorer in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, scoring 273 runs in 6 matches for Bhopal Leopards, including a blistering 123 off 41 balls.

At the U-23 level, he impressed with a 101 off 75 balls against Karnataka. However, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he played only one match and got out for a golden duck.

Aniket Verma was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, he shared his cricketing inspirations:
“I want to meet Hardik Pandya. I will talk to him about fitness, bat flow, and his hitting ability. Apart from him, I would like to learn the on-the-rise flick shot from Kohli, the pull shot from Rohit, and the flick shot from Pant. Also, I will talk to Dhoni about patience and common sense. I would like to ask Bumrah how he reads batsmen. He is an expert in this art.”

In IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals bowled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for 163 in 18.4 overs on Sunday. Mitchell Starc took 5/35, while Kuldeep Yadav impressed with 3/22.

SRH had a shaky start, losing four wickets in the powerplay but still managing 58 runs in six overs. Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Nitish Kumar Reddy fell cheaply.

Aniket Verma played a brilliant knock of 74 off 41 balls, helping SRH recover alongside Heinrich Klaasen (32 off 19) after a shaky start. However, Starc dismissed two batsmen in the 19th over to finish off the SRH innings. SRH had won the toss and chosen to bat first.

For DC, Kuldeep Yadav was the most economical bowler, giving away just 22 runs in his four overs. Mitchell Starc grabbed his first IPL five-wicket haul, taking SRH’s last wicket on the fourth ball of his final over. He finished with figures of 5/35 in 3.4 overs. Together, Kuldeep and Starc bowled 25 dot balls.
