5. 109/10 vs Mumbai Indians, IPL 2019
In the IPL 2019 season, MI bowled out CSK for just 109 runs. CSK choose to bowl first after winning the toss. With the help of the Mumbai’s opener Rohit Sharma’s half-century MI reaches 155/4 in 20 overs. CSK, in reply, faced a big batting collapse. Murali Vijay scored 38 runs, but the next five batsmen were dismissed for single digits. MI’s Lasith Malinga took 4 wickets, while Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each. In IPL’s first season, CSK was bowled out for only 109 runs against Rajasthan Royals (RR). In the 24th match of the tournament, CSK captain MS Dhoni chose to bat first after winning the toss. But RR’s bowler Sohail Tanvir took 6 wickets, destroying CSK’s batting. CSK’s openers Parthiv Patel and Stephen Fleming were dismissed for ducks. 3. 103/9 vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2025
In IPL 2025, CSK faced another collapse against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR chose to bowl first and restricted CSK to 103/9 in 20 overs. CSK’s captain MS Dhoni returned to lead the team after Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured. Shivam Dube was the top scorer with 31 runs, but the rest of the batsmen failed. Sunil Narine (3 wickets), Varun Chakaravarthy (2 wickets) and Harshit Rana (2 wickets) did most of the damage for KKR. CSK lost the match by 8 wickets, with 59 balls to spare.
2. 97/10 vs Mumbai Indians, IPL 2022
In the 2022 season, CSK faced another batting failure against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium. MI asked CSK to bat first and bowled them out for just 97 runs in 16 overs. CSK lost their top four batsmen for single digits, including two ducks. Dhoni was the top scorer with an unbeaten 36 runs, but no other player could contribute much. CSK’s lowest total in IPL history came in the 2013 season against Mumbai Indians (MI). MI batted first and scored 139/5 in their innings. In reply, CSK were bowled out for just 79 runs, losing by 60 runs. Seven CSK batsmen were dismissed for single-digit scores.
