Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh shared his honest feelings about watching Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill play for India or in the IPL. Both players are from Punjab, just like Yuvraj, and have a close bond with him. He has played a big role in guiding and mentoring them, which is why they often thank him for helping shape their careers.
Yuvraj Singh’s Special Connection with the Punjab Duo
Yuvraj Singh has always been supportive of the duo, praising their performances and offering advice whenever they face challenges with their batting. In a recent interview on the Curly Tales YouTube channel, Yuvraj appeared with his mother and talked about both players. Yuvi said:
“I get nervous when Abhishek and Shubman are batting.”
Yuvraj Singh’s mother, Shabnam Singh, shared that a lot of young cricketers are a bit intimidated by him because he takes his mentoring role very seriously. She said:
“A lot of people are scared of him like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma. After their games are over, in the evening, he will call them and be like ‘what kind of shot did you play?. They get petrified of him.”

The BCCI has announced the latest list of central contracts, with Shubman Gill retaining his spot in Grade A. Abhishek Sharma has been added to the list for the first time, placed in Grade C. Notably, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have also been included again after being left out last year.
This marks Abhishek Sharma’s debut in the BCCI central contracts list, following his impressive performances in recent T20Is for India, where he has already scored two centuries in the shortest format.
