World 10K Bengaluru 2025: Top Athletes, Start Times, Prize Money

World 10K Bengaluru is scheduled to take place on Sunday (April 27) in which both elite and amatuer athletes are expected to take part. 

This will be the 17th edition of the World Athletics Gold Label Race with nearly 35,000 runners ready to hit the streets of Bengaluru.

The event carries a total prize money of USD 210,000.  

At the Paris 2024 Olympics champion in 10000m Cheptegei will headline the elite field.

Kipkorir Kimeli is the current course record holder, clocking a 27:38 in 2022. 

However, Kenya’s Peter Njeru, who won the event in 28:14 last year, will be missing from action.

Kenya’s Cintia Chepngeno leads the elite women’s field with a personal best of 30:08. The in-form runner clinched silver at the Macau 10K earlier this year.

Kenya’s Irene Cheptai is the current record holder at 30:35, set in 2022.

Defending champion Kenya’s Lilian Rengeruk, who won the race last year with a time of 30:56 will also not be competing in this edition.

Five events will take place in Bengaluru. They are as follows:

  • Open 10K-Men
  • Open 10K-Women
  • Majja Run (4.2km)
  • Senior Citizens’ Run (3km)
  • World 10K 
  • Champions with Disability (3km) virtual run

  • World 10K Women – 5:30 AM
  • World 10K men – 6:08 AM
  • Open 10K – 6:10 AM
  • Senior Citizens and Champions with Disability Run (3km) – 8:00 AM
  • Majja Run (4.2km) – 8:30 AM
