Giro dItalia 2025: Tracking The Route; Schedule And Start Times

The Giro dItalia 2025 road cycling commenced on Friday 9 May 2025 bringing together elite cyclists from around the world. 

The 108th edition of the race flagged off from Durrës, Albania, and will wind up in the Italian capital, Rome, on Sunday 1 June. 

Giro dItalia 2025, which is the first Grand Tour of the road cycling season, features 21 stages across four countries, covering a total of 3,413 km, and includes two time trials, three summit finishes, and three rest days. 

Started in 1909, the Giro d’Italia is an annual multi-stage road race held primarily in Italy.

Defending champion and serial winner Tadej Pogacar headlines the field. Former champion Primoz Roglic, Adam Yates and Juan Ayuso are other riders to watch out for.

Past winners Jai Hindley and Egan Bernal makes the competition more interesting.

Giro dItalia 2025: Route

For the first time, the Giro d’Italia 2025 started in Albania. The opening three stages take place exclusively on the Balkan Peninsula, including a stint in the capital Tirana.

The race then enters Italy, moving from the southern regions, including Naples, to the north. The race also passes through Pisa and Siena. 

In the final week, the race passes through into the Alps, which will see iconic climbs including Monte Grappa, Mortirolo and Colle delle Finestre before the grand finale takes shape in Rome.
