Senegal Defeat England To Become 1st African Nation To Defeat The Three Lions
Thomas Tuchel’s winning start as England manager came to a crushing end as Senegal sealed a shock victory to become the first African side to beat the Three Lions.
The three lions were used to winning but they were handed a reality check by Senegal who were great in attack and defence and did not let the England players get comfortable on the ball.
Senegal had more than double the shots on target than England. Senegal won the 3-1 comfortably against England and looked dangerous whenever they attacked from the wings or from counters.
Anthony Gordon struck a first time shot that was saved from Edouard Mendy
The match started with a bang as England looked like they were top of it from the starting as they converted the first chance into a goal at the 7th minute. Anthony Gordon struck a first time shot that was saved from Edouard Mendy but got deflected towards Harry Kane, who was not missing this chance in his sleep.
It looked like England would run away with the game but the audience was in for a surprise. Senegal were creating chances and slowly started creeping into the game, at the 40th minute mark, a long ball was kept in by Nicolas Jackson which was finished by Ismaila Sarr. This was the start of the comeback that lifted the Senegal spirits.

Habib Diarra made a beautiful run from between the lines that had the England defence in splits
In the 61st minute, Habib Diarra made a beautiful run from between the lines that had the England defence in splits and he continued his run into the box unchallenged by any defender. This resulted in him scoring the goal by himself, it got deflected by Dean Henderson but went into the goal. 2-1 on the scoresheet and it looked like only one team was hungry to win this game.
Just moments later the referee was called by the VAR
This goal flipped the switch in the English players as they followed the goal with two close chances from Morgan Gibbs-White and Bukayo Saka.

But the actual chance came in the 83rd minute, when Jude Bellingham converted a corner into a scrappy goal and it looked like England were back on track but just moments later the referee was called by the VAR, and just like that the goal as disallowed for a handball leading to the goal by Colwill. Certainly not a day for England fans and players and to top it off Senegal scored another goal from the last attack of the game through Sabaly.
This was Three Lions first defeat against an African team and also Thomas Tuchel’s first defeat as the England Manager.
