2. D’Angelo Russell
D’Angelo Russell is another player who could step in. The former All-Star averaged 12.9 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.1 steals this past season with the Brooklyn Nets. He’s great at creating his own shot and making plays for others.
The risk? Russell missed 24 games last season. That could make Indiana’s front office hesitate. But if healthy, he offers a scoring and passing combo that few other players can bring.
3. Jrue Holiday
Rumors suggest that the Boston Celtics may look to trade Jrue Holiday to cut salary. If that happens, Indiana should be very interested.

His scoring ability would pair well with someone like Andrew Nembhard, creating a powerful guard combo. McCollum isn’t a traditional point guard, but his experience and shooting make him a strong fit for Indiana’s system.
5. Chris Paul
Chris Paul might be the oldest name on the list, but he’s also the most experienced. The future Hall of Famer just finished his one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs.
At this point in his career, Paul may not want to play big minutes. But his court vision, leadership, and game IQ could be exactly what Indiana needs to stay stable while Haliburton heals. He’d also be a great mentor for the team’s younger players.
