AFG vs ZIM: Afghanistan To Visit Zimbabwe In October 2025 For One Test And Three T20Is

3 Min Read

AFG vs ZIM: Afghanistan will travel back to Zimbabwe in October 2025 for an international cricket series that includes one Test and three T20 Internationals (T20Is).

This altered schedule is a minimized version of the original Future Tours Programme (FTP), which had two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is. All the games are to be played at the Harare Sports Club, which will be a historic occasion as the venue will see its first Test in four years.

Harare Sports Club To Host Historic Test Match

The lone Test game of AFG vs ZIM series will be staged from October 20 to 24, 2025. Harare Sports Club will host the red-ball game, ending a sequence wherein Zimbabwe’s previous nine home Tests were hosted by Bulawayo, and all have ended in defeats.

This upcoming Test is part of Zimbabwe’s busy 2025 calendar, during which they will play 10 Test matches, despite not being a part of the World Test Championship. Originally, 11 Tests were scheduled for Zimbabwe in 2025, but the second Test against Afghanistan and the ODI series have been postponed to 2026, according to reports.

AFG vs ZIM T20I Series: Key Preparation for T20 World Cup 2026

The three-match T20I series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will be played on:

October 29, 2025

October 31, 2025

November 2, 2025

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has emphasized the importance of T20I matches as they aim to fine-tune their squad ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February–March 2026.

Zimbabwe’s Road to the 2026 T20 World Cup

Zimbabwe is now competing in the Africa Regional Qualifier and has gone into the semi-finals. Beating Kenya on Thursday would guarantee their ticket to the 2026 T20 World Cup, a major redemption from being unable to attend the 2024 edition following an upset loss to Uganda. Zimbabwe has only competed in one of the previous three T20 World Cups—back in 2022, when they reached the Super 12s.

Potential Additional Fixtures for Zimbabwe in 2025-26

With no schedule to fill between November 2025 and April 2026, ZC is aggressively pursuing additional fixtures. Since most Full Member countries, apart from Ireland, are occupied during that time, Zimbabwe is looking at matches with Associate countries like:

Namibia (also a semi-finalist in the T20 Qualifier)

Netherlands

Nepal

This endeavor ensures Zimbabwe keeps its competitive advantage and momentum going into the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
