In the latest update of the ICC ODI Rankings, Virat Kohli has taken a significant stride toward regaining the No.1 spot among ODI batters. The Indian talisman jumped to fourth place with 751 rating points after smashing an exquisite 135 off 120 balls in the opening ODI against South Africa in Ranchi. He now trails Rohit Sharma, who remains at the top, by just 32 points.

The former India captain had held the No.1 ODI batting ranking for more than three years until he was overtaken by Pakistan’s Babar Azam in 2021. Now, with his latest performances, Kohli is again inching closer to the pinnacle.

Rohit Sharma Extends His Lead alongside Virat Kohli

Current ODI No.1 Rohit Sharma further extended the lead over New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell (2nd) and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran (3rd). Kohli, meanwhile, moved up over teammate Shubman Gill to take the fourth spot as he continues his march up the ICC ODI Rankings.

Kuldeep Yadav Gains for India

More good news came when left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav rose one spot to sixth in the ODI bowling rankings. His consistency just continues to strengthen India’s position overall across formats.

Saim Ayub Reclaims No.1 T20I All-Rounder Spot

The conclusion of the Pakistan tri-series saw major movements in the T20I all-rounder rankings. Pakistan’s rising star Saim Ayub regained his No.1 T20I all-rounder spot following a good all-round show in the final, making 36 runs and taking an important wicket in Pakistan’s six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka.

Ayub had briefly lost the top spot to Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza but bounced back strongly. Teammates Abrar Ahmed – up to 4th – and Mohammad Nawaz – up to 11th also made gains in the bowling rankings while Nawaz jumped to fourth among all-rounders after he was adjudged Player of the Tournament.

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Players Make Big Jumps

The standout performances of Sri Lanka’s Kamil Mishara included an aggregate of 169 runs in the tri-series, surging from outside the top 100 to 18th in T20I batting rankings.

Bangladesh stars also climbed the ladder after defeating Ireland 2-1:

Parvez Hossain Emon – up 21 places to 38th

Towhid Hridoy – up to joint 42nd

Mustafizur Rahman – up to 8th among T20I bowlers

South Africa Tops the Test Rankings After India Sweep

Following South Africa’s emphatic 2-0 Test series victory over India, several Proteas players surged up the Test charts.

Marco Jansen recorded a career-high. The biggest gainer was left-arm pacer Marco Jansen, who surged five spots to take 5th place in the Test bowling rankings and advanced to second among Test all-rounders.

Simon Harmer Shines

Off-spinner Simon Harmer leapfrogged 13 places to 11th after finishing with 17 wickets in the series to bag the Player of the Series award.

SA Batters Climb Upwards There was also progress from the batters of South Africa: Kyle Verreynne up to 38th Ryan Rickelton up to 39th Tristan Stubbs up to 47th

With Virat Kohli closing in on the top spot of the ICC ODI Rankings, and big movements across formats for India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and South Africa, this latest update from the ICC has changed the landscape of world cricket.
