P. V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen are set to headline India’s women’s and men’s teams, respectively, at the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) 2026, scheduled to be held in Qingdao, China, from February 3–8.
India enters as the defending champion in the
World No. 13 women’s category having won its historic first-ever title won in 2024. The men’s team, meanwhile, aims to build on its consistent continental performances, having secured bronze medals in 2016 and 2020.
Selected based on ranking, performance and recent form, the women’s team once again revolves around the seasoned shoulders of P. V. Sindhu, a former world champion and India’s most decorated women’s shuttler. Sindhu played a crucial role in India’s maiden BATC triumph two years ago and will look to guide a youthful, yet capable, supporting group.
With depth across singles and doubles, the women’s side led by two-time Olympic medallist is expected to mount a strong title defence.
India’s men’s contingent features one of its strongest-ever combinations, blending world-class doubles power, and emerging singles talent. With the core of the 2022 Thomas Cup-winning squad intact, India’s men’s team carries serious expectations of a podium finish.

Badminton Association of India (BAI) General Secretary Sanjay Mishra expressed optimism about India’s prospects in both categories.
“Over the last few years, Indian teams have consistently been medal contenders at the Asian and World level. This squad has the right mix of form and experience and is capable of challenging for the crown in both categories,” he said.
