Australia recorded the most dominant outing of the Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 as they defeated Sri Lanka by a mere score of 58 runs to then win by nine wickets in their Group-stage outing.

Despite Sri Lanka having booked their spot in the next round of matches, they were no contest for Australia’s bowling lineup as they managed only two players hitting a double-figure score.

Will Bryom’s Five-For Triggers Sri Lankan Collapse

Asked to bat first, Sri Lanka suffered an early blow as Charles Lachmund removed both openers in the third over, reducing them to 3 for 3. Thereafter, the Australian bowlers tightened the noose, as no partnership crossed 12 runs.

Standout performer was Will Bryom, who ripped through the Sri Lankan middle and lower order with a fine performance of 5/14. He was well supported by Kasay Barton, chipped in with two wickets, as Sri Lanka were bowled on the penultimate ball of the 19th over.

Australia Complete Easy Chase in 12 Overs

Chasing a modest target, Australia lost its opener Will Malajczuk in the first over itself, but that was the only blip in a good match from Australia’s point of view, as Nitesh Samuel and Steven Hogan got together in an unbeaten 58-run alliance to see Australia home in just 12 overs.

Hogan, who is still Not Out on 28, ensured a comprehensive win that signified Australia’s dominance in the Under-19 Mens’s Cricket World Cup.

Men’s Under-19 World Cup Brief Scores – Australia vs Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka: 58 in 18.5 overs

(Chamika Heenatigala 14; Will Bryom 5/14, Kasay Barton 2/13)

Australia: 62/1 in 12 overs

(Steven Hogan 28)*

Result: Australia won by 9 wickets

Bangladesh vs USA – Tamim Leads Bangladesh into Next Round

Yet again, a major contest was to be seen at the Men’s Under-19 World Cup, and Bangladesh won their maiden game of the tournament in a dominant seven wicket match finish, qualifying for the next round and putting an end to their opponents, USA’s tournament.

USA Post Competitive Total Thanks to Adnit Jhamb

USA chose to bat, losing their openers, Amrinder Gill and Arjun Mahes, early in the match. A partnership of 51 runs by Sahil Garg and Utkarsh Srivastava somewhat resurrected the innings before Bangladesh came back to restrict USA to a meager 89/5.

The star of the inning was the solid inning of Adnit Jhamb, who remained not out on 68* of 69 balls, helping USA to reach the total of 199 despite the meager assistance of the rest of the batsmen.

Bangladesh Bowlers Share the Spoils

The bowling core of Bangladesh was spearheaded by Iqbal Hossain Emon, who took three wickets. He was well supported by Al Fahad, Shahriar Ahmed, and Md Rizan Hossan, who all took two wickets each to rein in the USA batsmen.

Tamim’s Calm Fifty Anchors the Chase

Bangladesh replied, giving a positive start to their innings through an aggressive knock by Zawad Abrar, who made an impressive 47 off just 42 runs, featuring five fours and three sixes. Later, Abrar’s partners continued to get dismissed one after the other, while their skipper Md Azizul Hakim Tamim stayed back.

Tamim’s composed 64-run knock did not cause any problems, as he shared crucial stands with Kalam Aleen and then Rizan, who took Bangladesh home with 51 balls left.

Brief Scores – Bangladesh vs USA

USA: 199 in 50 overs

(Adnit Jhamb 68, Utkarsh Srivastava 39; Iqbal Hossain Emon 3/41, Rizan Hossan 2/27)*

Bangladesh: 201/3 in 41.3 overs

(Md Azizul Hakim Tamim 64, Zawad Abrar 47)
