New Zealand, on the other hand, lost their group stage match against South Africa and the last match of the Super Eight against England, but were able to qualify for the semifinal after a little help from Sri Lanka.

India got the better of England in a last-over thriller in the second semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium, while New Zealand thumped South Africa at Eden Gardens in the first semifinal, courtesy of a record-breaking century from Finn Allen.
The Final
