Updated IPL 2026 Orange Cap And Purple Cap List: The first batsmen from the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Travis Head (23 from 17) and Abhishek Sharma (59 from 22), got SRH off to an explosive start by putting on a partnership of 74 runs without loss. Sharma started the onslaught with an amazing innings where he reached a blistering half-century after only 14 balls.

The fast start put pressure on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowlers. While Head only contributed a modest 23 runs before being dismissed (caught behind off JP Duminy), and Ishan Kishan didn’t score at all on the day (LBW to Overton).

Sharma maintained his dominance throughout the match and scored 59 runs off 22 balls before being out when Overton dismissed him.

After Sharma’s dismissal, SRH was in trouble, having lost four wickets within 38 balls after starting from 74 runs without loss. The innings went into a rapid decline after Sharma’s outstanding batting performance, which ultimately led to CSK back into the game, and SRH being bowled out for 192 runs after having been 74 without loss.

Heinrich Klaasen (not out, 58 from 32) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (12 from 16) then tried to stop the bleeding and build a partnership to stabilize the innings, but Reddy was dismissed (caught behind off Overton) shortly thereafter.

However, Klaasen was able to continue his excellent play, scoring his third 50 of the season (in 32 balls) while anchoring SRH during the period of frequent wickets.

He found support from Salil Arora, and the duo added valuable runs before Arora was dismissed for 13. Klaasen top-scored with a composed 59 off 39 balls, helping SRH post a total of 194 for 9 in their 20 overs—though they appeared slightly short given their explosive start.

CSK’s chase was off to a precarious start when Sanju Samson got out in the early stages. But Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre played an excellent counter attack, enabling the side to reach 50 runs in just 3.1 overs, with Mhatre being in the forefront.

But CSK’s hopes were dashed when Mhatre was hit in the hamstring region and was out for 30 in the very next ball. And soon enough Gaikwad was also gone.

Sarfaraz Khan and Matthew Short took the score to 46 runs, while Sarfaraz scored 25 off 19 balls and then was out. CSK were at 112/4 in the process, and although Matthew Short contributed 34 runs, the fall of wickets put a spanner in the works. CSK ended up with 184/8, which was 10 runs shy of their target.
