IPL 2026: Today, on 23rd April, an epic clash between the two most successful teams in IPL history ever. Yes its Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super kings battle in Wankhede Stadium. Former Mumbai Indians Captain Rohit Sharma‘s start of this season was remarkable, but in the last two matches, he was not in the team. Due to a hamstring injury against the Royal Challengers Bangalore last week, he has not played the last two matches. But today, MI captain Hardik Pandya can might pick him in the playing 11 against CSK.
Former Captain is not Fully Fit
Based on his practice session last night, Rohit Sharma still hasn’t reached 100% fitness. The former Mumbai Indians leader began his training with some gentle jogging before moving to the nets. Reports from ESPNCricinfo indicate that during his 25-minute batting window, he stuck to facing throwdowns rather than full-speed bowling. He also played it safe, avoiding any aggressive or big shots, which suggests he is still testing his recovery ahead of the Chennai Super Kings clash.
Management can’t take a chance
If he will not be fully fit, then it’s clear he wont play against CSK today because management is not in the mood to take any kind of risk for his Hamstring Injury. He will only be back on the ground when he is fully recovered. Instead of him, Danish Malewar might play as the debutant, who failed to make an impact in the previous game.
CSK in trouble
If we will talk about MS Dhoni, there is no certainty of his playing against MI today. As there is no official statement from the Chennai Super Kings management about Dhoni. Comparatively, Rohit Sharma- Mahi was more available than him in training sessions, which raises the expectations of CSK fans. CSK is already in trouble in this tournament due to its bad performance. On the other hand, Ayush Mathre got ruled out of the whole tournament, which raises concern for management. Let’s see who will play in his place in today’s game.
