Kimi Antonelli Dismisses George Russell’s F1 Title Mind Games Ahead Of Monaco GP

Mercedes rookie sensation Kimi Antonelli has recently been the fans’ favourite, after his back-to-back stunning performances at the grid. 

However, his teammate George Russell suffered a setback in the last race weekend, the Canadian Grand Prix, which urged him to retire early from the lead, due to sudden engine failure. 

Kimi Antonelli Eyeing 5th Win

Now, this whole scenario has automatically put Kimi Antonelli ahead by 43 points over his teammate Russell. Right now, Kimi is at a very strong spot as he is eyeing his fifth consecutive win, to match Lewis Hamilton’s record. 

But George Russell believes that it is not going to happen anytime soon. He told BBC that now ‘it is his (Kimi Antonelli) to lose’, as Russell is adamant to win the upcoming races.

George Russell said, “To be fair, I don’t really give weight to that line because it’s still so early in the season. There are still 17, maybe more, races left, and it is very, very early to be thinking or talking about the championship. So, yeah, to be fair, I just continue trying to excel and do my best whenever I get in the car, trying to maximise the result. Then we’ll see where we end up at the end of the season.

But I also think it’s difficult to talk about losing something when you don’t even have it. I didn’t win the championship, so how can I lose something that I didn’t even achieve?

So, yeah, I will definitely race as I always have, enjoy it as much as possible, and, as I said before, we’ll see where we end up at the end of the season.”

With momentum on his side, let’s see now if Kimi Antonelli will be able to grab the Monaco Grand Prix title or not. 

If the Italian rookie sensation managed to do so, he would be the next driver to win the Monaco GP after Jarno Trulli did it in 2024.

The race weekend will begin on Friday, June 5, with the opening two practice sessions, then the Qualifying will take place on Saturday, June 6, and the main race is scheduled for Sunday, June 7.
