Team India’s star batsman KL Rahul went unsold in the Maharaja Premier League. On Friday during the auction despite being picked in priority no one selected such a star player who showed in IPL so far. He had a superb IPL season where he scored the highest ever individual score ever by an Indian cricketer in IPL history, still no one selected him and it was quite shocking. He was one of the biggest names amongst all the cricketers. We will take a look at why they did not select him?
Why did he go unsold?
There were six franchises who were bidding in this tournament but none of them picked him as he will not be able to play due to his tenure for the India vs Afghanistan Series. Rahul has been in extraordinary form undoubtedly, but he was not picked is a different thing. Currently he is playing for team Indias as opener batsmen and despite being chosen for his squad, it was a wise decision as his availability remains uncertain.
Kl Rahul is currently part of the India team and he is not playing just as a player he is Vice captain of India against the Afghanistan test match running in Mullanpur New Chandigarh stadium. Also, he will be part of India in the upcoming series against England and Afghanistan ODI series as well. So, with the big duty and packed schedule for him to play any other league except for India, franchises were hesitant to invest in him as Rahul’s playing was not guaranteed.
Rahul in IPL 2026
Kl Rahul is a big game guy and he showed this in IPL season 2026. Again it was a beautiful season for him. Out of 14 matches he played with the batting average of 45.89 and strike rate of 176.89 he scored 593 runs with the help of 5 half centuries and one century. Also Rahul posted his career best score 152 runs which is best performance by an Indian batsmen yet in IPL history.
