Former Indian and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni, has once again grabbed headlines, this time not because of injuries concern or his availability for the upcoming IPL match, but for being named the highest individual taxpayer in the Bihar-Jharkhand region for the financial year 2025-2026.

The achievement further highlights Dhoni’s massive commercial influence even years after retiring from international cricket.

MS Dhoni emerged as the highest individual taxpayer in the region

Dr D. Sudhakar Rao, the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for Bihar and Jharkhand, confirmed that MS Dhoni once again emerged as the highest individual taxpayer in the region. Although the exact tax amount was not revealed, officials stated that the former India captain topped the list of individual contributors.

The recognition further strengthens MS Dhoni’s deep connection with Ranchi and Jharkhand, where he continues to enjoy immense popularity as one of the biggest sporting icons.

Meanwhile, Dr D. Sudhakar Rao also revealed the overall tax collection figures for the region. According to him, Jharkhand generated nearly Rs 12,000 crore in revenue during the previous financial year, while Bihar contributed close to Rs 8,000 crore. Out of the combined target of Rs 20,000 crore, Jharkhand recorded the highest contribution.

MS Dhoni’s injury has become major discussion point in IPL 2026

MS Dhoni retired from international cricket a few years ago, and he continues to play IPL, even though discussions around his IPL future continue to dominate headlines. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter remains an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings setup, but his role this season has come under focus due to ongoing fitness concerns.

Dhoni’s availability and injury concerns have become major discussion points recently, with fans and experts closely watching whether the CSK icon will feature in the playing XI as the franchise enters a crucial stage of the tournament.

As per reports, MS Dhoni could be nearing a return to action. At the same time, there are suggestions that the veteran does not want to disturb the existing team balance, especially if CSK continue to gain momentum and stay firmly in the playoff race.

Although questions remain over his playing future, Dhoni’s stature as one of India’s biggest sporting icons and commercially successful athletes remains stronger than ever.

Meanwhile, fans will be eagerly awaiting his comeback in CSK’s next IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 10 at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium.
