Delhi Capitals (DC) registered an unwanted record in IPL history after suffering their 150th defeat in the tournament during an 8-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, May 8. With the defeat, DC also became the first franchise to reach the 150-loss mark in the IPL.

Chasing a modest target of 143, KKR started on an impressive note as they reached the target in just 14.2 overs. New Zealand star batter Finn Allen smashed a sensational 47-ball century at a strike rate of 212.77, laced with five fours and 10 sixes to guide Kolkata to their fourth win of the IPL 2026 season.

Delhi Capitals became the team with most defeats in IPL history

The loss against KKR at the Arun Jaitley Stadium marked Delhi Capitals’ seventh defeat of the IPL 2026 season and their 150th overall loss in IPL history. With that, DC became the team with the most defeats in the tournament’s history.

Out of their 150 losses, 147 have come in regular matches, while three defeats came via Super Overs. Delhi Capitals are followed by Punjab Kings on the list of teams with the most IPL defeats. Meanwhile, English county side Middlesex holds the record for the most defeats in T20 cricket. They have lost 171 matches out of 272 played so far. They are followed by Derbyshire with 152 defeats in 257 matches, while Delhi Capitals now sit third on the list with 150 losses from 285 IPL matches.

Finn Allen smashed 47-ball century

Coming to the match, Finn Allen delivered a stunning knock for KKR against DC in IPL 2026, smashing a century in just 47 balls. The 27-year-old batter slammed five fours and 10 sixes as KKR chased down the 143-run target easily in only 14.2 overs to seal a dominant eight-wicket win.

Allen also surpassed Venkatesh Iyer to register the fastest century for KKR in IPL history. Iyer scored a 49-ball hundred against Mumbai Indians during IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium.

The defeat also pushed Delhi Capitals into the record books for an unwanted reason, as they became the first franchise in IPL history to register 150 losses.

However, DC will be keen to make a strong comeback in their next IPL match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 11 at the HPCA Stadium. DC are currently sitting at the eight spot in the points table with 8 points, while Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR ranks seventh with 9 points.
