CPL 2026: The Trinbago Knight Riders, defending champions of CPL, sent a clear message during last week’s draft about how they intend to move forward this season by signing back their main three players, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard with RMO agreements.
The TKR have committed to maintaining the core of their championship-winning team after winning their 5th CPL title last season.
While Pooran, who led the team to the title, had many match-winning performances as captain, Pollard was named the Player of the Tournament for his multiple match-winning showings and Narine, who is one of T20 cricket’s most experienced players, continues to play an important role in the Knight Riders’ lineup across various leagues worldwide.
TKR Add More Strength for CPL 2026
In addition to holding onto their star players, the Trinbago Knight Riders also used RMOs (retained management options) to keep Akeal Hosein and Terrance Hinds in the team. The Franchise also made their All-Rounder Group even stronger by adding Justin Greaves and Dominic Drakes before this coming season.
With a now well-balanced team containing explosive batsmen, veteran all-rounders and world-class spin options, TKR appear to be one of the leading candidates for the CPL 2026 Title.

Jamaica Kingsmen Sign Andre Russell and Rovman Powell
Incredibly, aggressive recruitment was among one of many topics of discussion surrounding the CPL 2026 Draft, due to the formation of Jamaica Kingsmen.
The franchise has signed superstar cricketers Andre Russell and Rovman Powell, two of the biggest players in all of Caribbean cricket. Both players were formerly signed as part of the former Jamaica Tallawahs’ teams, prior to being acquired by different franchises to play for them in 2021-2022 and 2020-21 seasons, respectively.
Russell spent the last four seasons playing with TKR (Trinidad Knight Riders), while Powell will be returning to the Jamaica franchise after spending this past season with the Barbados Royals, who are now called the Barbados Tridents.
Barbados Tridents Secure Motie and Rutherford
The Tridents added Guakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner and Sherfane Rutherford, a middle-order power hitter to their squad. Brandon King and Kadeem Alleyne were retained using the Right to Match Option creating a good balance of stability and power on the team.
Patriots and Falcons Make Important Moves
Jason Holder, a former captain of the West Indies national cricket team, and Johnson Charles, a wicketkeeper-batsman and leading run-scorer in the history of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), were acquired by the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
In addition to retaining Jayden Seales, Amir Jangoo, and Fabian Allen, Alzarri Joseph (fast bowler) and Evin Lewis (aggressive opening batsman) have been signed by the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
