The 4th Match of the 2021 T20 World Cup, Round 1 – Group A was Sri Lanka vs Namibia held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates on Monday, 18th of October 2021.
The format for the 7th T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from the 17th of October to the 14th of November 2021 is that there will be two rounds. Round 1 is the Group Stage consisting of Eight Teams divided into Group A and Group B, as four teams from here will advance to Round 2 – the Super 12s.
Earlier, another Group A encounter was played between Ireland vs Netherlands as Ireland’s Curtis Campher made headlines for his amazing 4 Wickets in 4 Balls spell, as a result of which, Ireland won by 7 Wickets.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field.
A Comfortable Victory for Sri Lanka
First Innings – Namibia puts 96 Runs on Board
It was a great bowling performance by the Sri Lankans as they got Namibia all-out at 96. It was a good performance by – the 21-year-old Maheesh Theekshana, who made his international debut for Sri Lanka in September 2021. He picked up 3 Wickets for 25 Runs. Meanwhile, another great effort by Lahiru Kumara led to him picking up 2 Wickets for 9 Runs with an economy of 2.57.
Whereas, none of Namibia’s players had put a good score and lost quick wickets after the Powerplay.
Second Innings – Target for Sri Lanka – 97 Runs
However, Sri Lanka in response lost two quick wickets. They were 18/2 (2.6 overs), with both openers back in the pavilion.
However, due to Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s Partnership of 74 Runs, Sri Lanka easily chased the target with 39 balls left.
As a result, Sri Lanka won by 7 Wickets as they finished with a score of 100/3 (13.3 overs). With this result, Sri Lanka is currently at the top of Group A with 2 points.
