Former Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri praised Hardik Pandya. The Hindi and English commentator feels the captaincy role given to Hardik was a changing point in his career and it helped him a lot in regaining his form as well as his place in the Indian cricket team.
Hardik Pandya did the captaincy for the first time in IPL this year and he won the trophy with the new franchise named Gujarat Titans. Mumbai Indians didn’t retain the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya before the IPL mega auction which happened this year in the month of February. Hardik Pandya was brilliant with the bat and with the ball in the IPL 2022. With that, Hardik Pandya was selected in the Indian squad for the South Africa’s series and Ireland series.
Hardik was also named captain for the two-match T20Is against Ireland. Indian team won both of these matches in Ireland under his captaincy. Ravi Shastri also feel that not retaining Hardik Pandya was one of the biggest mistakes Mumbai Indians made before the IPL 2022.
” It shocked him (Hardik Pandya) when he was not retained by Mumbai Indians. He was picked by Gujarat Titans, where he was given the extra responsibility of captaining, which did him a world of good,” said Ravi Shastri during Eng v Ind, 2nd ODI at Lord’s.
