IPL 2021: Government of Maharashtra gives a nod to IPL, allows teams to practice after 8PM at Wankhede
Maharashtra currently is the most affected state by the 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic, that is yet to reach its peak in India. Amidst all this, IPL 2021 is scheduled to start from 9th April with all precautions by the teams and their team management.
With a worrying news about the positive testings of Groundstaffs and Event Managers at Wankhede surfaced this past weekend, the conditions didn’t looked apt for Wankhede to host IPL this year. But the news now just seems to solve the problems with balance and exceptions for teams.
” Considering the match-timings, teams practicing at the CCI and MCA are scheduled to practice in 2 sessions from 4pm to 6.30pm and 7.30pm to 10pm,” wrote Srirang Gholap, Under Secretary of the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation department, in a letter issued to the BCCI.

Maharashtra has imposed strict measures to control the outbreak in the state by imposing Night Curfews in the state. Wankhede is scheduled to host 10 games of IPL 2021.
