IPL 2021 is off to a banger of a start with RCB beating MI by 2 wickets and a last-ball decider was witnessed.
One of the two heroes for this RCB winning start, Harshal Patel was interviewed post-match and said that he knew beforehand at the start of the match, that he’ll bowl the last over.
Hashal Said, “When I was traded from Delhi Capitals, I was told what role I will play for the franchise.”
He continued, “There were clear instructions that I will be bowling in the last two overs, in a spell. That gave me a lot of clarity. It helped me prepare certain plans against batters and kept my preparations concise.”
He even talked about the reversing ball conditions, which lured him into experimenting. He said, “The ball started reversing at one stage. It was important to bowl the Yorkers and slower balls”
He even gave his perception about his slower yorkers.
“Just that when you don’t get wickets of slow yorkers, people don’t tend to see that. I always had the yorker but earlier couldn’t take it into the game. In the past 15-20 days, I was trying to put myself into situations” he added.
Captain Kohli was indeed very impressed with Harshal’s performance and post-match said, Harshal’s knowing the toughness of job in his hand. Harshal made a remarkable RCB debut with 5/27 out of his quota of 4 overs. He also made some records. He became the first bowler in the history of IPL, to take a fifer against Mumbai Indians and the first RCB bowler after 8 years to take a fifer in the IPL.
