Even though the name was created in a year when the Cowboys made it to the Super Bowl (as opposed to 2023, 27 years after their last Super Bowl championship), it has stood the test of time, and the Cowboys remain one of the NFL’s wealthiest, most well-known, and most-discussed teams.

The Cowboys have played since 1960, and their games continue to break attendance records at home and on the road. In the NFL, they have the second-most Super Bowl appearances with eight. The Boys have made eight total outings, with five victories. The Patriots and Steelers have more Super Bowl titles than the Cowboys, but the last two teams have won the championship more recently. They did something never before accomplished in the NFL: they won three Super Bowls in four years. Even if it happened a while ago, Dallas’s streak of many consecutive winning seasons still has a lasting effect on the city’s fan base.

History

Despite the team’s current association with a deep blue colour scheme, the Cowboys’ history dates back to 1960, when they were a proudly royal blue and white squad. The white helmet complemented the black numbers and shoulders on the original Cowboys jersey, giving the team a look that was both basic and dignified and would come to define the Cowboys’ legendary status. White helmets were used for a relatively brief period of time. By 1964, silver had made its first appearance in Dallas Cowboys legend because the team had switched from white to silver helmets. With the debut of their shiny new silver helmets, the Cowboys unveiled a new version of their iconic emblem, with a thick white border around the blue star. This alteration has been preserved inside the logo ever since.

About Uniform:

The Dallas Cowboys was started in 1960, and their name was chosen to represent the Lone Star State. A simple blue and white colour scheme instantly recognizes the Cowboys’ uniforms, making them one of the league’s most famous teams. Although the team’s uniforms have evolved, blue remains the home colour, white is the away colour, and silver is used for both helmets and pants. The Cowboys, sometimes known as “America’s Team,” have an estimated value of more than $4.8 billion, making them one of the world’s most valuable clubs. They have won five Super Bowls. A common saying exists across the Lone Star State: “In Texas, they do big things.”

Let’s go back in time and see how the Dallas Cowboys jerseys have changed over nearly 70 years of the team’s existence. In 1960: Even though the Cowboys are now commonly associated with a dark blue colour scheme, they started as a team proud of their royal blue and white colours back in 1960. The white helmet matched the numbers and shoulders on the first Cowboys jersey, providing the team with a simple yet regal design that would become an integral part of the Cowboys’ legendary image. A short time was spent with the white helmets.

By 1964, the Dallas Cowboys had abandoned their white headgear for silver helmets, marking the first appearance of silver in team lore. The Cowboys updated their logo with their new silver helmets by adding a bold white border around the blue star. This change remains in the emblem to this day. In 1967: The Cowboys switched to a crew neck and two-sleeve stripes in 1967. Removing one strip from the Cowboys’ sleeves was a modest adjustment that became a standard.

Dallas moved the shoulder numbers to the sleeve in 1970, but they returned later. In 1976, the helmet stripes were red, white, and blue to celebrate the US bicentennial. The Cowboys’ silver slacks and royal blue tops made them look like the Lions and Colts, who also wore blue and silver. In 1980: Cowboy football’s navy colour was adopted in 1981. The Cowboys switched from royal blue to dark blue and added silver numbers to emphasize the transition. After the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, the league shield returns to the collar, and the V-neck returns.

Each player’s number was printed on the pants’ hips in 1982. This jersey appeals to football traditionalists. Dallas honoured back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1994 with a unique double-star shirt worn by icons Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith on Thanksgiving. To mark the NFL‘s 75th anniversary, the Cowboys wore a throwback uniform from 1960. In 1996, “Cowboys” was put to the blue jersey’s neckline. Fans can still see the team’s silver-white collar stripe. The Cowboys reintroduced the 1960 uniform on Thanksgiving Day in 2004.

A modernized version of the debut jersey becomes the Cowboys’ alternate jersey. The uniform’s detailing and coloration reflects the NFL’s 2012 switch to Nike. In 2016: the Cowboys released an all-white throwback version of the 90s double-star uniform in 2016 to coincide with the NFL’s Colour Rush jersey introduction. Like many other tradition-rich organizations, the NFL allowed the Cowboys to celebrate their heritage while following the colour vs. colour pattern. In the golden days, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith led the Cowboys to titles in the all-white jersey.

In 2018: The Cowboys’ classic jersey design is as much a part of Dallas’ heritage as any professional sports garment. To find out where specific aspects came from, browse the Cowboys’ jersey history. The Dallas Cowboys’ current uniforms were shaped by the 1960 jersey, the 1967 stripes, the 1980s navy-blue revival, and the 1990s modern accents. Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Leighton Vander Esch are young but talented. But players wear a jersey steeped in history every game and represent their organization’s tradition like few others in sports.

Jersey

The Colour Rush was used again in Thanksgiving 2020 when the Washington Football Team came to town. The squad often wears either white or blue uniforms throughout the other seasons. On November 24, 2022, against the New York Giants, the Cowboys wore their white helmets and navy “throwback” uniforms again, thanks to the NFL’s reinstatement of the use of alternate helmets that season.
