Players with most goals in a single Premier League season

4 Min Read

Some of the best goal scorers in the history of the sport have always called the English Premier League home. Many athletes, ranging from Mohammed Salah to Alan Shearer, have broken numerous goalscoring records over the years. Nonetheless, it takes exceptional consistency and quality to break the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season. Here is a look at players with most goals in a single Premier League season. The list contains 38 match seasons.

Mohammed Salah

Liverpool and Egyptian star winger Mohammed Salah has the record for most goals in a single Premier League season. Liverpool bought Salah from Roma. Most observers believed the player the Anfield squad signed was respectable but not a top performer. Even the most optimistic fans were not prepared for the Egyptian international’s record-breaking 32 league goals during the 2017–18 campaign. Because Salah plays as a winger rather than the usual center forward, his accomplishment is all the more remarkable.

Luis Suarez

In the 2013–2014 Premier League season, Luis Suarez had one of his best ever individual campaigns when his world-class hitting performance nearly led Liverpool to their 19th league championship. Suarez went on to score 31 goals that season, his finishing prowess were at times spectacular.

Cristiano Ronaldo

There is almost no goal scoring which is completed without Cristiano Ronaldo. He arrived in the Premier League as a teenager when he joined Manchester United in 2003. But under Sir Alex Ferguson’s direction, he developed into one of the best players in football history. He made his name as a player of the highest caliber during the 2007–2008 season, when his goal-scoring prowess helped United win the Premier League and the Champions League. The Portuguese attacker put up such strong performances that he later went on to earn the first of his five Ballon D’Or awards.

Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer, a former striker for Newcastle United and Blackburn, holds the record for most goals scored in Premier League history with 260. In the 1993-1994 and 1994-1995 seasons, he had scored 34 goals. Nonetheless, there were 42 games played in the league back then, making it larger. Shearer was one of Europe’s most versatile strikers in his prime, able to score in every situation. In the 1995-96 season, when the premier league was reduced to 38 matchdays, Shearer scored 31 goals.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane, the star forward for Tottenham, may not have concluded the 2017–18 season with the most goals scored inPremier League, but the English captain did have his finest Premier League season to date, becoming the fourth player to reach 100 goals in the league at a young age. In the same season he scored 30 goals and finished behind Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.

Erling Haaland has already scored 28 goals in this season and will be looking to cement his place in this list. Do you think he will be able to break Salah’s record?
