Team announces new president, multi-year lease at Big Boy Arena, and season tickets on sale now
FRASER, Mich., July 14, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — After a successful inaugural season that placed professional ice hockey team the Motor City Rockers third in the Continental division with a 32-18-6 regular season record and a berth in the Federal Prospects Hockey League’s 2023 Commissioners Cup Playoffs, the team is looking to build on that momentum heading into its second season in Oct. Leading the way will be Scott Brand, who was recently named the team’s president and will oversee corporate partnerships, promotions, sales, and business operations.
A Michigan native, Brand previously served as president of Ignite sports and Entertainment in Columbus, GA where he oversaw the expansion of the minor league hockey’s River Dragons and the Sunbelt League’s minor league baseball teams the Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots, and Chattahoochee Monsters.
“I am thrilled to be back home in Michigan and to be part of the Rockers family,” said Brand. “This team has built a tremendous foundation in its inaugural season, and I look forward to the opportunity to bringing hard-hitting hockey and family-friendly entertainment to our fans.”
The organization finalized a multi-year lease extension with Big Boy Arena. The four-year extension includes revenue sharing, facilities improvement, and the ability to purchase tickets at the Big Boy Arena information desk. “We are excited to deepen our partnership with the Motor City Rockers and attract more people to the facility,” said Bud Kowalski, general manager, Big Boy Arena. “It’s great to have minor league professional hockey back at Big Boy Arena for the years to come.”
The 56-game 2023-24 schedule has been announced with the home opening game versus Virginia Rhinos set for Fri., Oct. 27, 2023 at Big Boy Arena (34400 Utica Rd., Fraser, Mich.).
