The All India Football Federation’s League Committee recently conducted a crucial video conferencing meeting where a significant decision was made for the Indian Women’s League (IWL). The committee recommended the implementation of a promotion-relegation system involving IWL and IWL 2, starting from the 2024-25 season, according to an AIFF release.
In addition to this groundbreaking decision, the committee also assessed nominations from various State Associations for IWL 2 and outlined steps to finalize the process. After careful deliberations, the committee set February 5, 2024, as the deadline for the submission of nominations for IWL 2 teams.
Furthermore, the proposed calendar for the AIFF Club Competitions for the 2024-25 season was reviewed during the meeting, gaining the committee’s approval. Additionally, the Regulations of the I-League 2 for the upcoming 2023-24 season received the committee’s nod.
The meeting, chaired by Lalnghinglova Hmar, included Deputy Chairperson Santanu Pujari and Committee Members Arif Ali, Caitanno Jose Fernandes, Anirban Dutta, and Amit Chaudhuri. The AIFF Acting Secretary General, M Satyanarayan, was also present.
At the commencement of the meeting, the Chairperson and other members expressed their heartfelt condolences for the untimely demise of Sandeep Chattoo, the Owner of Real Kashmir Football Club, on December 31, 2023.
