McLaren’s Chrome Livery: A Nostalgic Lookback
McLaren’s chrome livery isn’t just a beautiful work of art, but it holds a special meaning. It’s a throwback to the mid-2000s and early 2010s, an era when legends like Kimi Raikkonnen, Juan Pablo Montoya, and a young Lewis Hamilton raced in shimmery silver mini rockets. The 2025 edition is officially called “Legacy at Speed,” which is all about celebrating a history while bringing a fresh twist for the new fans.
An Iconic Launch
Knowing McLaren, they obviously won’t do anything that’s not in style. This McLaren’s Chrome livery launch was iconic as they did it at the heart of London’s Trafalgar Square, with Lando Norris and championship leader Oscar Piastri at the front, making fans go crazy. As thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the MCL39 in an all-new shiny attire, the stage was set for an iconic launch. Even the drivers’ suits are getting a makeover, with a black suit with chrome numbers and Google’s signature red, yellow, green, and blue straps on the side.
Lewis McEwen On The Occasion
McLaren’s Chief Marketing Officer, Lewis McEwen, said on the occasion, “We know that, while we have millions of fans who have been with the McLaren Formula 1 Team for decades, there are millions more who are new to the sport and the team. Being able to celebrate and showcase our long history with the help of Chrome is a fantastic way of bringing these newer fans on the journey with us. To celebrate with so many of our fans in London this week, as we get ready for our home race, makes it even more special!”
A Long Tradition
This isn’t McLaren’s first Chrome rodeo. They did it at Silverstone in 2023 and in 2024 at the US Grand Prix. But this time, they’ve gone all-in, with more chrome than ever before. The British Grand Prix 2025 is the perfect plan to shine as Lando Norris’ home race. So will this all-new McLaren’s Chrome livery prove to be a lucky charm for the team?
