To be honest I didn’t think I would be writing this. Alpha7 Esports the reigning PMGC champions, the team that won the PUBG Mobile World Cup in 2024, the Brazilian squad that felt almost untouchable on the global stage they’re out. Did not advance from the group stage. It doesn’t feel real even typing that.
19 pts. 6 games. 15th position. That is the grim reality of what happened to Alpha7 in Jakarta.
For a team that came in as one of the real favourites to win this whole thing this is nothing short of a disaster. Fans who thought Revo, Carrilho, Guizao, Obscure and Nouthz would be fighting for the trophy at the Grand Finals are now seeing their team packing their bags and heading home early. It stings. It really does.
What went wrong?
PMGC 2025 champions Alpha7 are out of PMGO 2026 S1!

To be honest, that’s the question no one has a neat answer to right now. This wasn’t just a bad match or bad circles. Alpha7 was off on all six matches. They couldn’t string together the placement points, couldn’t string together the kills when it mattered and slowly slipped down the standings until there was no coming back.
The concluding group A table is all the story. Then there is Horaa Esports who ran away with it on 75 points which is just a whole different level. Alpha7 finished on the 19th, just six points clear of the eliminated ETSH Esports. That’s when the defending world champs stepped in. Take a second to think about that.
The bigger picture is pretty worrying for them in fact
PMGO isn’t the only one. These international tournaments lead into PMGC 2026 qualification and Alpha7 needed a strong showing here to stay on track. Even if they don’t make the Grand Finals, they won’t lose any ground in the points race. So this one result could have consequences far beyond just this tournament.
This was a team that was on top of the world a year ago. Now they watch from the sidelines as everyone else battles for the crown. That’s esports, brutal, unpredictable, competitive and it doesn’t care about your rep or your trophies.
What happens next in Group A after Alpha7 Esports
On the brighter side for everyone else, Horaa Esports, eArena, Pandum, S2G Esports, Aurora Gaming, and FURIA Esports all punched their tickets directly to the Grand Finals. Solid teams, well deserved.
Boars Gaming, IDA Esports, VOIN Esports, 4Thrives Esports, GOAT Team, AlUla Club, 721 Esports, and Team Flash get another shot through the Survival Stage on June 4. Win enough there and you’re still alive. It’s a tough path but it’s a path.
For Alpha7 though, the road ends here. Champions one year, eliminated in the group stage the next. Nobody wanted to see it end this way for them but that’s the game.
